Loudly does the chorus sing
The melody of fire and smoke
Through the sleepless night it rings
A symphony with no end in sight

And the orchestra due fully plays
To the tune their conductor has chosen
Lofty ideals have no say
In the theater of death and destruction

The band plays a march in town
To match the firework show
So many hear as they go down
The songs of freedom and protection

And haughtily does the Phantom laugh
At the chords of dissonance
And the conductor speaks on behalf
Of the audience of the show

And as you listen you can hear
The truth in the sweetly played tone
Though again and again it’s played with fear
Of having the harmonies stolen
